We’ve seen films reduced to simplistic and in some cases, bizarre outcomes. But musicians and bands have avoided the gaze of designers. That is, until Spanish design studio Tata&Friends decided to play around with the iconography and symbolism of some of their favourite bands.
“After doing some research on icons design, we decided to make this tribute to the bands we love,” said the team.
The result is an exhaustive collection of Selfridges yellow posters that depict bands through the words they’ve used. For the Sex Pistols, the team, err… depicted a man and a woman engaging in coitus next to a revolver.
The Smashing Pumpkins are, naturally, a hammer and a minimally designed pumpkin.
